CFTA is located within the urban center of Chongqing and at the core of the economic belt of CLNA. It enjoys the advantage of being a free trade port that has direct access to international markets and makes the most of its role as a bridgehead for economic opening up. The economic influence of CFTA spans six neighboring provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hunan and Hubei and a 300 million population.

Advantage of Communications

CFTA has a convenient multimodal transport system that includes water, land and air. It is linked seamlessly by dedicated express lanes to Chongqing Cuntan International Cargo Port, Tuanjiecun Rail Cargo Center and Jiangbei International Airport.

Water Transport 

Chongqing Cuntan International Cargo Port is to date the most technologically advanced inland water port with the largest TEU capacity in China. It has seven container berths and one roll-on-and-roll-off berth, with an annual handling capability of 1.4 million TEU. It uses the golden passageway of 2239 km Yangtze River to float 8000-tonnage ships all year round, with daily liner service to Shanghai Yangshan Port, which takes five days to go and seven days to return, and costs only one sixth of that of road transport

Land Transport

Expressway

Chongqing has built a trunk expressway network of “two rings and ten spokes”, with a density of 2.4km for every 100 km2. The total mileage is over 2000km, top in the country. The trunk expressway network of “three rings, eleven spokes and three lines” will be built by 2015, with a total mileage of over 3200km. By then the road network density will be comparable to Europe.

Railway Hub

Chongqing Tuanjiecun rail cargo center is the biggest rail transport hub in western China, with an operating length of 1257km. The 11 trunk rail lines link Chongqing with the whole country. By 2020 there will be 19 trunk lines. The center has regular trains to Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu. The center also has regular service to Europe via the “Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe” railway. The whole journey takes 14-16 days, and saves about 20 days than shipment from coastal cities to Europe through the Pacific.

Air Freight

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is one of the ten largest airports in China. Currently it has two runways and two terminals, and is able to fly fully loaded all-cargo aircraft B737-400. The airport now has more than 20 international cargo flights to Japan, Korea, Russia, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, UAE, Qatar, etc. Every week it has over 3500 domestic and 50 international flights to 106 cities.

Now the airport has 36 airline companies, of which 8 are locally based. By 2015, the T3A terminal and the third runway will be built, which will be able to fly fully loaded Airbus A380. By 2020, the T3B and the fourth runway will be built, by then its passenger capacity will reach 75 million per year, and cargo capacity 2.5 million tons. 政务优势 Advantage of Administration Services
