Chongqing International Exhibition & Trading Center was formally opened on Sep 25 2013 and will emphatically build five functions, including bonded exhibition, commodity trading, logistics and customs clearance, channel expansion and enterprise service. Currently the first phase of the Trading Center, a 10000 ㎡ exhibition hall, is already in use. The second phase of a 45000㎡comprehensive exhibition and trading center is under construction, and will be completed for use in 2014. The third phase of 1.5 million㎡ comprehensive commercial support and comprehensive exhibition and trading center will be fully started in this year, approximately 500 mu. Some projects will be running in 2015.
Offshore trade
The Area will largely develop offshore trades to reduce import and export operation costs of the enterprise. It will actively expand export trades and transit trades, actively invite foreign capitals, introduce foreign advanced technologies and management experiences and create more job opportunities by the position of commodity collection and distribution center, and set up branches in the port, transportation hub and border areas. It’s to stimulate the development of transportation industry of host countries and promote economic development of the Area, when creating a prosperous port.
The enterprise settled in the Area is promoted to open an offshore account for offshore finance. The piloting on international trade settlement, financial lease, futures bonded delivery, bonded ship registration, international transit consolidation and tax return at the port of department has been ongoing and gained great successes and preliminary experiences. Sales center, operation center, distribution center, order center and calculation center facing international markets have been formed for the offshore trade. Expensive equipment can be transacted under offshore status for offshore outsourcing services by tax exemption and bonded advantages. Maintenance, test, R&D and data processing for high end products can be developed for the offshore service outsourcing business.
HQ Economy
Chongqing is planning to build the economic center of Yangtze River Upstream by 2020 and its logistics industry is deemed as one of few available advantages. The port may promote the development of the logistics industry, integrate with transportation resources, and improve processing and manufacturing industry, financial industry and service industry, so as to develop HO economy. It will rapidly become a new engine for Chongqing economic growth. Cuntan Port has been approved as a free trade port area and will be a center to provide strong supports for Chongqing to become the largest logistics center of China Southwest by the advantages of Yangtze River Golden Waterway, surrounding airport, roads and railways.
Now, Chongqing Free Trade Port Area has presented a role in pushing the opening economy. Except global famous IT giants, such as HP, Acer and Asus, which jointly build the notebook computer base in Chongqing, Chongqing Cloud Computing Center and Intelligent Communication Terminal Base Projects have also been started.
Cross border e-commerce
A comprehensive cross border trade e-commerce service platform will be built for integration with commodity customs clearance, inspection and quarantine, logistics distribution and financial settlement to promote quick gathering of industrial resources of whole cross border e-commerce industry chain, including e-business platform enterprises, cross border retail websites, cross border logistics, payments and settlements, and build the cross border trade e-commerce service industry park in Chongqing Free Trade Port Area. The Area will strive for inviting 20 enterprises for settlement in the Area and achieving trade volume of RMB 300 million by the end of 2015.
